CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A North Charleston man is facing multiple charges in connection with material connected to the sexual exploitation of minors, the attorney general’s office says.

Matthew Paul Vanvorst, 37, is charged with 10 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, Attorney General’s Office spokesman Robert Kittle said.

Investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children when led them to Vanvorst, Kittle said.

Investigators said Vanvorst possessed files of pornography involving children.

He was previously convicted on related charges in 2018, Kittle said.

Each count is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Task Force investigators with the Attorney General’s Office made the arrest.

Investigators with the North Charleston Police Department, Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Secret Service, and U.S. Marshals Service, all also members of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted with this investigation.
