MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – The body of a fallen Marion County deputy is being escorted to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston early Monday morning for an autopsy.

Deputy Johnathan David Price was one of two people killed in a crash on Jan. 6.

The escort, which departed Marion County around 4:30 a.m., is led by Horry County police’s motorcade unit.

According to the sheriff’s office, the escort will travel from Highway 501 to Highway 327, then I-95 South to Highway 26 South.

Price, 29, joined the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in September 2020 and had previously served with the Dillon Police Department.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dillon. A funeral service will also be held at the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with burial at Price Cemetery.

Price leaves behind a wife and three small children.
