RUFFIN, S.C. (WCSC) - Colleton County deputies are investigating a shooting Tuesday morning that left one person injured.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Clatty Farm Road at approximately 8:20 a.m.

Colleton County Fire-Rescue said the victim, a Ruffin woman, was shot in the head during “an altercation” at the home.

Crews said the woman was found semi-conscious in the yard. A small child was also in the home but was not injured, firefighters say.

Colleton County Fire-Rescue said poor weather conditions, including fog, prevented a medical helicopter from responding to the scene.

She was taken to the trauma center at MUSC in Charleston.

Deputies say the investigation remains active.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 843-549-2211.
