COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCSC) - Two South Carolina players, including one in the Lowcountry, won big prizes in the Mega Millions lottery.
South Carolina Education Lottery officials confirmed a ticket sold at the Harris Teeter on Highway 41 is worth $20,000 from Tuesday night’s drawing.
A second ticket, sold at the Exxon on Caw Caw Highway in St. Matthews won $10,000 in the same drawing.
The $20,000 winner spent an extra dollar for the “Megaplier,” which doubled the prize.
Both tickets matched four white ball numbers and the gold Megaball number. The winning numbers in the Tuesday night drawing were 12 - 14 - 26 - 28 - 33 and the Megaball was 9.
The two players each came within one number of the top jackpot.
With no grand prize winners, the Mega Millions jackpot jumps to $50 million for Friday’s drawing, the second-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.
Meanwhile, Thursday night’s Powerball game will draw for a $550 million jackpot.
The two jackpots represent the highest combined total since October 2018 when a South Carolina player hit a $1.5 billion jackpot.
Those wanting to play Thursday night’s Powerball game must purchase their tickets by 9:59 p.m.
