COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control says the latest round of COVID-19 tests confirmed 4,809 new COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths.
Thursday’s report also included 136 new probable cases and five new probable deaths.
The numbers are still being effected by what DHEC describes as an “internal systems issue.”
That brings the totals for the state to 337,845 confirmed and 33,335 probable cases; and 5,420 confirmed and 514 probable deaths.
Thursday’s report included test results of 18,115 individual results with a percent positive rate of 26.5%.
DHEC’s website states the agency is actively working with their vender to correct the problem and it will update numbers on the county dashboard when corrections are made.
DHEC has not responded to questions about the issue and how they would list the total number of cases that have been underreported while it was being investigated.
