JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) - A Lowcountry nonprofit helping people get through the pandemic with rent and food assistance needs your help this weekend.
Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach is hosting a virtual auction called the “Love Your Neighbor Auction.” This has been a major fundraiser for the nonprofit in the past, but they had to move it online this year because of COVID-19.
The auction is free and participants can browse high-interest leisure and luxury items like spa experiences, art pieces, wine tastings and restaurant packages as well as products and services from local businesses in the community.

“The auction is our most critical fundraiser of the year. This year in particular, the number of people in need has increased dramatically,” Executive Director Ericka Plater said. “Funds from this event will ensure we can keep our doors open to continue helping individuals and families hit hard by the effects of COVID. We pride ourselves on being a place of hope, healing and help, and our community needs us now more than ever.”
Online bidding is live right now and ends on Sunday.
