GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC) - Dominion Energy crews have secured a gas line in the Goose Creek area damaged by construction workers.

Goose Creek Police say a construction company working on Parish Farms Drive accidentally drilled through the line.

Dominion Energy spokesman Paul Fischer said the accident happened as construction workers were doing excavation work in the area. Dominion crews secured the line at approximately 11 a.m. Monday, he said.

They will remain at the scene to make final repairs.

Earlier, police said Dominion Energy cut off gas to the immediate area and estimated repair work would likely take approximately an hour. The timing of that update would have put completion at shortly after 11:30 a.m.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
