GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCSC) - Georgetown County leaders say a “major infrastructure breach” over the weekend is affecting most of the county’s electronic systems.

County emails are affected, the county said in a Facebook post.

It is not yet clear what information may have been compromised in the attack.

“At this time, it is uncertain when systems may be up again,” the post states. “The county’s website, gtcounty.org, is still operational and additional updates may be found there as they become available.”

Anyone who needs to reach a county office should do so by phone as county phone lines remain operational. County staff members are continuing to work normal hours.
