Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office searching for man wanted in January shootout

BURTON, S.C. (WCSC) -Beaufort County deputies are asking for information about a man in connection with a shootout at a Burton gas station.

Robert Steed Jr., 21, fled from the Shell Food Mart on Trask Parkway after being involved in the shootout, deputies say.

The Sheriff’s Office says Steed Jr. was still in possession of an assault rifle when he fled and have obtained warrants for his arrest for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated breach of peace.

Anyone with information about Steed Jr.’s whereabouts is asked to call Staff Sgt. Todd Duncan at 843-255-3418 or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111.
