CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Cupid’s Chase 5K is schedule for Saturday at 10 a.m. at James Island County Park.

The annual event is hosted by a nationally based nonprofit Community Options.

The 5K benefits people with disabilities through residential and employment services. The goal is to help empower people with disabilities through support services and advocacy.

Executive Director of Community Options in the Charleston region Alan Rose says they limited capacity and followed safety guidelines for the event.

“Based on what everybody has been going through since last March, everybody is quite excited about the opportunity of coming and participating for a wonderful cause and getting some exercise as well,” Rose says.

Rose says 100% of the proceeds go to the people they serve in the community. So far they’ve raised about $6,500.

“A lot of the people that we serve do not have families and the money goes directly to their needs whether it’s getting adaptive equipment, whether it’s getting new furniture,” Rose said. “Whatever needs they have we make sure we address with these funds.”
