CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A strong cold front pushing toward the Lowcountry Thursday will bring with it a chance of possibly severe storms.

The Live 5 Weather team declared Thursday a First Alert Weather Day to alert you to the possibility of storms as well as heavy rainfall.

Showers and storms are possible, a few of which may be strong to severe. Heavy rain, frequent lightning, gusty winds and an isolated tornado are also possible.

Meteorologist Joey Sovine says the heaviest rain is expected near I-95 in Colleton and Dorchester Counties Thursday morning.
