BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Berkeley County coroner identified the Huger man who died Monday in a crash on I-26.

William Myers, 46, died in a multi-vehicle crash near mile marker 187, according to Coroner George Oliver.

Myers died at the scene of the crash, Oliver said.

Trooper Tyler Tidwell said it started when a Freightliner tractor trailer struck a Chevrolet Malibu in the rear which caused other vehicles on the highway to be struck including a Ford Ranger, a Nissan Altima, a Ford Van and a Peterbilt tractor trailer.

In addition, Tyler said the Ford Ranger ran off the road and overturned after it was hit.

Tidwell said the driver of the Malibu died on the scene, while the driver of the Ford Ranger was transported to Trident Medical Center for injuries.

According to troopers, everyone involved was wearing their seatbelt.

At one point, authorities had shut down all westbound lanes as crews worked the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the crash.
