CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Daniel Island will be home to not one, but two WTA tournaments next month a spokesperson confirmed on Friday afternoon.

After the Volvo Car Open wraps up on April 11th, a 2nd event that has not yet been named, will kick off its main draw on the 12th.

The tournament, which will be a WTA 250 event, will feature a field of 32 players. Down from the 56 players the Volvo Car Open will host the week before as a WTA 500 event.

Most of the field for the second tournament will be comprised of women who play in the Volvo Car Open the week before the spokesperson confirmed.

The Volvo field, which was released earlier this week, will feature the top ranked player in the world, Ashley Barty, defending tournament champion Madison Keys and Lowcountry native Shelby Rogers among others.

The full field as well as the name of the event should be released next week.

As with this years Volvo Car Open, there will be no tickets sold for the 2nd tournament. Matches will be aired on the Tennis Channel.
