DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Deputies say one person has been shot in a Dorchester County Food Lion parking lot.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office says deputies first responded to JC’s Bar and Grille in the 3700 block of Ashley Phosphate Road at around 2:05 a.m. Wednesday.

Reports say deputies were responding to a 911 hang-up when dispatch advised them of a crowd of approximately 20 people fighting in the parking lot of the Food Lion on Ashley Phosphate Road.

JC’s Bar and Grille was part of this same shopping center about one block from R.B. Stall High School.

When deputies arrived, they say they saw several cars speeding out of the parking lot, about 10 people in front of JC’s Bar and Grille and several others milling about the parking lot.

Deputies called in back up and slowly managed to lock the scene down, but incident reports state several cars managed to leave after deputies had already arrived.

A woman was reportedly running from Ashley Phosphate Road toward the parking lot when deputies say they noticed blood on her leg.

The woman said she had parked her car in the parking lot, got out of her car and immediatley heard several gunshots. She said she was with two friends and that one of them might have been shot.

Deputies say the victim had been taken to Trident Medical Hospital by one of her friends before authorities had the chance to arrive.

The crime scene was subsequently taped off and the area was reportedly surrounded by emergency vehicles.

Incident reports state one car had both passenger-side windows shot out and an H&R Block had its front windows shot as well.

In the course of the investigation, deputies say they also found a car with bullet holes in both the rear driver and passenger windows.

The DCSO says this case is under investigation.
