CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department says a man was stabbed in the hand after an altercation outside a King Street bar.

The initial call for the stabbing reportedly came in just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, when police say they responded to calls of an assault.

The stabbing was reportedly outside a bar in the area called Uptown Social located at 535 King Street.

Incident reports state an argument started between the victim and the suspect about the victim not leaving the suspect alone.

Police say the two subsequently got into a fight in the street in front of Uptown Social and both fell to the ground. While on the ground, police say one man pulled out a 4″ pocketknife and stabbed the victim in the right hand.

A CPD spokesperson says the victim has a small laceration to his right hand.

The suspect then left the scene in his own car, incident reports state.

Reports say both the suspect and victim had been drinking and the victim repeatedly said he didn’t want to get the suspect in trouble.

The victim was inspected by EMS whereupon police say he drove himself to the hospital.
