Woman charged with DUI in crash that injured Summerville police officer
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - A Summerville police officer suffered minor injuries after authorities say a suspected impaired driver caused a serious multi-vehicle crash in Berkeley County Wednesday night.
State troopers arrested Sara Ann Adame in connection with the crash and charged her with DUI, South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell said.
Adame’s mugshot was not immediately available from the Berkeley County jail.
Officials with the Summerville Police Department said one of their officers was on his way home from work when the crash occurred on College Park Road near Market Road.
Summerville Police said the officer was transported to Trident Hospital for minor injuries and has since been released. Summerville Police said the contributor in the crash is suspected of impaired driving.
Tidwell said the vehicles involved in the crash were a white 4-door sedan, a black SUV and a Summerville police forensics vehicle. One of the vehicles overturned in the collision, Tidwell said.
