Police: Service dog owner arrested after fight with customer over dog urinating in restaurant
TYBEE ISLAND, GA. (WYFF/WIS) - A woman was arrested after her service dog urinated on the floor of a restaurant and she kicked another customer in the stomach during a fight about cleaning up the mess, according to police.
The woman is also accused of intentionally damaging $400,000 worth of a DJ’s entertainment equipment.
Police said this happened May 23 at Benny’s Tybee Tavern on Tybee Island.
Police said they were called to the bar about a fight and learned a service dog had relieved itself on the floor. The police report said people in the restaurant asked the dog’s owner to clean up the mess and she place napkins on top of the puddle.
Police said when she was confronted, the dog owner “became disorderly and began to lash out against employees and patrons, reportedly kicking an older customer in the stomach.”
Witness told police the woman intentionally damaged the DJ’s entertainment equipment, which was valued at about $400,000.
The woman was charged with simple battery, exploitation and intimidation of elder persons, criminal damage to property and aggravated assault.
