Man arrested in attempted shooting at weekend graduation party
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office arrested one man Sunday morning after a shooting late Saturday night at a graduation party.
Keith Silverman, 48, is charged with attempted murder, second-degree assault and battery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Deputies responded at approximately 10:46 p.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue where a shooting had reportedly taken place.
One of the victims, a juvenile girl, told deputies Silverman “choked her out” and grabbed her during a graduation party.
An incident report states a second victim attempted to defend the girl from Silverman, who then reportedly pulled out a gun and “shot once or twice” at him.
The man told deputies Silverman pulled the trigger and “barely missed” him. He said Silverman fired only once and then ran away and into a house on the property.
Deputies maintained a perimeter on the house until the SWAT team arrived on scene and were able to remove him from the home.
A judge set bond at a total of $50,000 on the assault and battery and the weapons charges.
Bond was denied on the attempted murder charge, according to jail records.
He was being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
