GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC) - The Goose Creek Police Department is looking for a suspect officers say shot and killed a man Saturday night.

Police say they were called to a barber shop on Red Bank Road at 6:55 p.m. in reference to a shooting.

Behind the barber shop, officers at the scene say they found 21-year-old Rae’Jay Palmer, who had been shot once on his backside.

Officials say he was taken to Trident Medical Center where he died from his injury.

Investigators say Palmer was at the barbershop getting his hair cut when the suspect entered the shop. The suspect then approached Palmer and the two of them had a verbal altercation, according to a report.

The report says it escalated into a physical altercation and Palmer tried to run toward the back of the shop.

That’s when police say he was shot.

The suspect left the scene in a white vehicle, officers say. Witnesses describe him as a young man with gold teeth and dreads.

Goose Creek Police Chief LJ Roscoe says she believes that Palmer and suspect knew each other prior to the shooting and that it was not a random incident.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
