BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a Cross man is facing charges after leaving the scene of a deadly crash early Friday morning.

Chad Weiss, 37, is charged with felony driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident involving a death, according to Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell.

Troopers say the crash happened at approximately 8 p.m. Thursday night on S.C. Highway 45 near Fryes Lane when a 2004 Ford F-150 struck a four-wheeler. The driver of the four-wheeler died in the crash, Tidwell said.

The driver of the truck, who troopers later identified as Weiss, was later arrested and charged. Tidwell said he was taken to Trident Medical Center and was then taken to the Berkeley County jail.

Highway Patrol accident investigators are continuing to investigate the crash.

The Berkeley County Coroner has not yet released the name of the victim.

Weiss was being held pending a bond hearing Friday.

There was no mugshot of him immediately available.
