CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Former Marine disarms would-be robber, police say
YUMA, Ariz. (CBS News) - Surveillance footage from an Arizona convenience store shows the moment a customer grabbed a gun from a would-be armed robber.
Yuma County deputies responded to the store Wednesday at approximately 4:30 a.m. where the robbery attempt have been reported.
Deputies say they learned three people entered the store and one of them was armed with a handgun. The armed subject walked next to a store customer while pointing the weapon toward the cashier.
The customer, a former Marine, acted immediately and disarmed him as the other two ran from the area.
Deputies say the customer was able to hold the would-be robber, who turned out to be a juvenile, until they arrived.
“The Marine Corps taught me not to [mess] around,” the customer told deputies.
The suspect, whose name was not released, was booked into the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center for one count of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault.
Deputies were still looking for the other two people but said no one was injured.
