DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Officials with Dorchester School District 2 say Ashley Ridge High School was placed on lockdown when a student ran away after he was told that his belonging were going to be searched.

According to district officials, the student ran from campus into a nearby neighborhood.

“School administrators placed the school on a precautionary lockdown as the situation was investigated with the assistance of law enforcement,” DD2 officials said.

The district says the student was located in a neighborhood and the lockdown was lifted.

“There was no threat to the safety of students or staff,” DD2 officials said. “This afternoon normal dismissal procedures were followed.”
