I-26 crash delayed traffic for several hours

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is reporting a crash that is impacting traffic near Jedburg Road in Dorchester County.

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated a crash Friday night that caused hours of delays on I-26 in Dorchester County.

The crash happened at approximately 6:44 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-26 near Jedburg Road.

Two eastbound lanes of the interstate remained closed as of 9 p.m. Traffic was backed up for more than five miles for hours while all of the lanes were closed for nearly two hours.

Highway Patrol LCpl. Nick Pye said lane closures were expected to continue for several hours. All lanes have since reopened, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Troopers said the crash involved injuries, but it was not immediately clear how serious the injuries were or how many vehicles were involved.

Multiple fire and EMS crews were on the scene as well as hazmat crews.
