Man accused of forcing woman into marriage claimed pair followed by Satanic cult, documents say
BOSTON, Ma. (WMUR via CNN) - A New Hampshire man is accused of forcing a woman into marriage and telling her they were being followed by a Satanic cult.
Court documents say police were called to an Olive Garden in Newington on Saturday morning for a woman being held against her will. The call came from Pennsylvania State Police after receiving a report from a woman who was tracking her daughter’s phone.
The documents allege officers saw cigarette burns on her legs after she ran out of the restaurant to them saying she wanted to file an emergency restraining order against Daniel Ouellet.
Investigators said they found a Satanic Bible, sweatshirt and bag in Ouellet’s car.
The paperwork said Ouellet had a gun and forced the woman to marry him. On Friday, he allegedly pointed a gun at her while she was driving, saying a religious cult was following them.
The next day, he grabbed her arm and cut her hand for a Satanic ritual in Kittery, Maine, according to the documents.
Police intervened in Newington later that morning.
“Forcing her into marriage, that’s completely against my religious belief. I totally believe in free will,” Ouellet said.
Prosecutors said Ouellet has a criminal record involving past domestic violence and DWI charges.
