City of Charleston police responded to reports of a dead body on Savannah Highway Saturday night. Police responded to the incident in the 2700 block of Savannah Highway near the Clemson Experimental Farm, according to Charleston Police spokesperson Charles Francis.
Camilo Jaimes, 23, was arrested for purse snatching and two counts of second-degree assault and battery, according to court documents. The incident occurred in a parking garage located at 69 Wentworth Street.
One man attempted to repurpose his navel after being pulled over at a traffic safety checkpoint on New Year’s Eve. Berkeley County deputies say 33-year-old Kevin Lee Hensarling was arrested after a bag of heroin fell from his belly button.
The Charleston Animal Society was called to rural eastern Georgia to assist in a large scale cruelty operation on Saturday. CAS was contacted by the Humane Society of the United States to assist in an operation involving approximately 165 German Shepherds.
Joshua Simmons, 29, was charged with Trafficking Cocaine and unlawful carry of a firearm, court documents say. Simmons, who was out on $20,000 bond for trafficking cocaine at the time of arrest, was denied bond on all charges.
A woman appeared in bond court after she was arrested for calling 911 to report that she was being held at gunpoint. According to court documents, 46-year-old Laneda Williams called police and reported she was being held at gunpoint by her ex-boyfriend.
Charleston County deputies are searching for two suspects in an armed robbery incident that occurred on Sunday night. The incident happened at a mobile home park located at 2225 Dunlap St, North Charleston, according to CCSO spokesperson Roger Antonio.
Dorchester County officials are reminding residents of the fireworks ordinance ahead of New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Eve, the discharge of fireworks shall be permitted in unincorporated Dorchester County from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m., according to the ordinance.
