School board OKs first hearing of cameras in classrooms

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County School Board members Monday gave first approval of allowing video cameras in classrooms and hallways.

District officials say the cameras could be used for education, recording lessons or presentations, or for behavioral purposes. Officials even said the recorded information could be used as evidence in disciplinary matters.

The measure has to pass through several more readings before it would be enacted.
