SC company demonstrates rapid shelter in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A Greenville company is demonstrating a shelter that with the touch of a button, unfolds into a 400-square-foot rigid wall structure.

Dynamic Global RDSS holds the demonstration on Tuesday at the Lowcountry Innovation Center at the old Charleston Naval Base in North Charleston.

The shelter was originally developed for the U.S. Army and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. But the company says it has commercial applications as well.

The shelters are now built in Greenville but the company hopes to expand with a Charleston office and possibly a satellite manufacturing plant.

The company says a Charleston plant would take advantage of the Port of Charleston for exports.
