New Myrtle Beach theater hosts award winning magician

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A soon-to-open theater in Myrtle Beach plans to draw crowds to its newly unveiled location with one of magic's highest award winners.

Morgan Strebler, renowned mentalist, illusionist, and psycho-kinetic practitioner has been named the recipient of a 2011 Merlin Award, the most prestigious honor bestowed by The International Magicians Society (IMS).

Past recipients of the award include: Harry Blackstone, Doug Henning, David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, Siegfried & Roy and Criss Angel.

As the resident performer at the new Pat Boone Family Theater in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Morgan's mental and visual extravaganza is scheduled to premiere in May 2011.

Glenn Milligan, President and CEO Liquid Metal Holdings, LLC, said that the new Pat Boone Family Theater will move into the former Nascar Café location.

"I think it's fantastic. The more entertainment in the area, the better," Jay Lodge said, CEO of the Palace Theater in Myrtle Beach. He welcomes the competition, but says the theater has high standards to live up to in the city.

"So as long as they stick to that level of standard and keep me on my toes and the other theatres on their toes, then I think it can only be a good thing," Lodge added.

Milligan says the theater will seat approximately 600 people and he believes Morgan's performance will not only bring in Myrtle Beach tourists, but will also be a hit with locals.
