RIDGEVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Emergency crews now have a Dorchester County wildfire 100 percent contained.
Officials said Friday that the fire, which started Thursday in the area of Horseford Road and Powder Road, is under control. Fire officials say 52 homes were in danger due to the fire, but none were lost.
The fire has claimed more than 1000 acres of land near Ridgeville and Dorchester. Smoke warning signs are placed on the roadside to warn drivers in the area.
Firefighters worked around the clock putting water on the ground to make sure the fire is contained.
Investigators have not determined the cause of this wildfire.
