CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - An outdoorsman and writer who is canoeing, hiking and biking through wilderness areas along the East Coast is stopping in South Carolina.
John Davis started the journey in Key Largo, Fla., back in February. He meets reporters on Charleston's Battery on Friday.
Davis has completed more than 1,800 miles of a 5,000-mile journey to raise awareness of the East Coast's wild areas and to work to see they are connected in what he calls an Eastern Wildway.
Davis has hiked across national forests and wildlife refuges, and biked up to 150 miles in a day. He plans to canoe in the Congaree Swamp National Park near Columbia on Saturday.
