BLUFFTON, SC (WCSC) - One man was killed and three others were injured Saturday after a car ran off the road in Bluffton and landed upside down in a ditch.
According to the Bluffton Police Department, 21-year-old Devin Michael Roach, of Ridgeland, was killed Saturday night after the car he was a passenger in ran off Palmetto Bluff Road. Roach was pronounced dead at the scene by the Beaufort County Coroner's Office. Roach was wearing a seat belt.
A front-seat passenger, 25-year-old Robert Marshall of Bluffton, was flown by LifeStar emergency helicopter to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah with severe injuries. He is in the intensive care unit.
The driver of the car, 22-year-old Shane Harper, of Hardeeville, and another passenger, 20-year-old John Marshall, of Bluffton, were taken to Savannah by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. It is unclear if the three injured men were wearing seat belts.
The four men were traveling on Palmetto Bluff Road toward May River Road around 7 p.m. Saturday when the car ran off the road, struck two trees and landed upside down in a drainage ditch, police said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
