NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police are looking for a male suspect involved in an armed robbery. Authorities say the robbery happened after midnight Wednesday at a Hess Gas Station in North Charleston.

The store clerk told police that the suspect entered the gas station with a gun and demanded cash from the register. The clerk opened the register for the suspect, who took the money and left the scene on foot.

Police took statements from the witnesses and checked the crime scene for fingerprints.

The clerk described the suspect as a black male of medium complexion in his early 20's. He is roughly 6'0" and weighs 170 pounds. He was wearing a grey hoody, black pants, a red ball cap and had a black and white sling on his right arm.

Another witness says she saw the suspect walk into the gas station, pull out a black handgun and point it at a customer before pointing it at the cashier.

It is unknown how much money the suspect got away with. The investigation continues.
