Artistic director Robert Ivey died early Friday

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Well-known artistic director Robert Ivey passed away early Friday morning after suffering a stroke in June.
Ivey died at 7:45 a.m.
The Australian-born owner of the 30-year-old Robert Ivey Ballet Company has been a driving force for the arts in Charleston since its inception.
He taught dance for many years at the College of Charleston School of the Arts. Ivey has also been widely praised for his contributions to the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
