CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police are still looking for suspects in the shooting death of a 33-year-old Citadel graduate.

Brian Holmes, the son of the SC Baptist Convention president, was shot and killed in downtown Charleston early Monday morning. Holmes, of North Charleston, is the son of minister Sonny Holmes.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. Monday on America Street near Reid Street. The car that Holmes was driving crashed into a parked car after the shooting.

Officials say Holmes was a 2000 graduate at The Citadel.

Charleston police are still investigating the incident. Police do not have a motive or a suspect at this time.

According to Charles Francis with the Charleston Police Department, this is the seventh homicide in the City of Charleston for 2011. Arrests have been made in four of the homicides.

A portion of America and Reid Streets was blocked off while officers investigated. Witnesses reported hearing shots fired in the area shortly before the accident.
