MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office says they have found the body of a missing man in the wreckage of a plane that crashed near the Berkeley County Airport.

The coroner's office says the body of 64-year-old Kenneth Tollett of Moncks Corner was recovered following a search on Thursday.

Investigators say an aerial search Thursday morning resulted in the location of Tollett's plane which crashed in a wooded area just outside the Berkeley County Airport.

Tollett flew out on October 13 in his Cessna 150F. According to investigators, Tollett has been known to fly off, so his family was not initially worried. They reported him missing on Monday.

Tollett was a former Berkeley High School teacher.  He retired from his position as a history teacher in 2008, according to Kathie Sizemore with Berkeley County Schools.
