NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police arrested one suspect early Wednesday morning and charged him in connection with a burglary.

Police say the burglary happened in the 7700 Block of Corley Drive around 2 a.m. Wednesday. Police arrested 21-year-old Dante Marquette Ray of Summerville and charged him with first degree burglary and assault and battery first degree.

Officers say the victim heard a loud noise and then went into the living room, where he says he saw two men standing in his kitchen. The victim told police that the suspects busted in the back door and fled after being spotted in the kitchen.

According to the victim, one of the suspects picked up a beer bottle and ash tray and threw it at him. The victim sustained a minor cut. The suspects then fled the home and got into a vehicle heading towards Valley View Circle.

Officers located the vehicle and two male subjects in the back yard of 7616 Valley View Circle. Ray was positively identified by witnesses as one of the suspects seen leaving the apartment.

During the investigation, officers determined that the second subject was not involved in the incident. Ray told investigators that he and the victim knew each other and that he along with several other individuals  were all at the victim' residence earlier drinking when an altercation took place between the victim and suspect.

The second male suspect has not been identified or located. The incident remains under investigation.

Ray is expected to go before a bond court judge Wednesday night.
