MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A Mt. Pleasant man is dead and his fiancé is still missing. After investigators discovered the body of 34-year-old David Hedrick police are focusing their efforts on finding his fiancé, 30-year-old Dara Watson. Police say it is too early to link these cases together.

On Friday, police found Hedrick's body inside the couple's home on North Creek Drive in Mt. Pleasant. That same afternoon, police say they found the SUV belonging to Watson, who had been reported missing. The SUV was found burned up in the woods, but there was no sign of Watson.

"The vehicle was towed and we're searching it for evidence," said Mt. Pleasant Police Chief Harry Sewell.

Search dogs, a forensics unit, Charleston County sheriff's deputies and Mt. Pleasant police all searched the wooded area off Halfway Creek Road where Watson's SUV was found.

Even though these two incidents took place within hours of each other, police say it's too soon to link them together.

"At this point it's an active investigation," Sewell said. "We're trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Nothing is more important than finding Watson."

Watson was last seen on Monday in Boone, NC by her mother. No one has heard from her since Wednesday.

According to cell phone records, a text message was sent from her phone to her boss saying she was fine. A call was made from her phone at 7:30 p.m. that same night in

If you have any information on where Watson could be, please call Mt. Pleasant police at 884-4176.
