NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Deputies say they arrested a 15-year-old boy on Tuesday after he was apprehended by an employee of the convenience store he tried to rob on the outskirts of North Charleston.

Dorchester County sheriff's deputies responded to the Kangaroo Express on Dorchester Road and Appian Way around 1 p.m. to find an employee chasing the suspect down the street.

Deputies were able to take the teen into custody, who told them the gun was in a bag on the ground.  The report provided by deputies does not indicate that they actually found a gun.

They recovered $307 in cash from the robbery.  The teen is charged with armed robbery.
