Citadel wants lawsuit in sex abuse case dismissed

Charleston, SC (AP) - The Citadel is seeking dismissal of a lawsuit based on its failure to report a sex abuse complaint to law enforcement more than four years ago.

The military college in Charleston was sued last year by a mother who said her son was molested by Louis "Skip" ReVille, a counselor at The Citadel's summer camp almost a decade ago.

The college received a 2007 complaint from a camper who said he had been abused by ReVille. The military college investigated but did not contact police.

The suit alleges the second child would not have been abused had The Citadel reported to police. The college, responding to the lawsuit, denies it knew ReVille was dangerous in 2007.

ReVille is now charged with molesting nine Lowcountry youngsters.
