CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities arrested a 32-year-old convicted felon accused of firing a gun during an argument in downtown Charleston Saturday afternoon.

The Charleston Police Department charged Qwantell Raynard Aiken of North Charleston with discharging a firearm and unlawful possession of a handgun by a felon.

As an officer responded to the area of Harris Street in reference to an argument, he heard a single gunshot in the area.

Police then saw three women pointing towards Harris Street and yelling,"He shot a gun and he is getting away."

When the officer arrived at the scene, he spotted Aiken riding a bike.

A police report states that Aiken was breathing heavily and said that he was in a verbal argument with a woman 5 minutes ago. Police say they then initiated a search on Aiken and located a bullet in his front right pants pocket.

Aiken then told officers that he had fired a gun and gave the location where he dumped the firearm.
