Deputies: Suspect shot after attempting to run over deputy

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a Charleston County deputy shot a man who was trying to run him over in West Ashley on Monday.
According to Charleston County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy John Clark, the incident happened near the 1600 block of Ashley River Road around 2 p.m.
Investigators say a deputy was performing a traffic stop when the man tried to run over the deputy. An incident report states that the deputy fired multiple rounds hitting the suspect.
The deputy then got out of the way of the suspect's vehicle. The suspect then fled to the area of Juniper Street and White Oak Drive where his car was located, deputies said.
Investigators say K-9 units tracked the suspect behind a house where he was attempting to take clothes from a clothesline.
Clark said the suspect was taken to MUSC for treatment. He did not say if the injuries were life-threatening.
