CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Riverdogs and Piggly Wiggly are helping out Lowcountry legend "Tony the Peanut Man" after a fire that destroyed his peanuts and pots he uses to cook them.

The Riverdogs announced Wednesday afternoon that they will donate a portion of the proceeds from peanut sales during the April 19-22 home stand to Anthony Wright. That is the "Peanut Man's" real name.

The Riverdogs also will set up donation stations throughout Riley Park.

Piggly Wiggly grocery chain announced it will replace the 900 lbs. of peanuts Wright lost in the fire.

The fire happened early Tuesday morning in Wright's backyard where he was cooking peanuts.
