Cyclist killed in wreck was felony DUI suspect from 'Skinful' death
JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say the cyclist killed in a wreck on Folly Road on Thursday is the same man charged with felony DUI after the auto-pedestrian fatal accident near the "Skinful Halloween Party" last October.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office identified the cyclist as 31-year-old Matthew Reid Fisher. Major Jim Brady with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office said Fisher was charged with felony DUI last year after deputies say he struck and killed 25-year-old Beau Froehlich near the corner of Folly and South Grimball roads on Oct. 23. The accident happened around 3 a.m.
On Thursday Around 4:56 p.m., the Charleston County Sheriff's Office responded to an accident at 2323 Folly Road involving two vehicles and Fisher. That location is just down Folly Road from the "Skinful" incident.
Investigators say Fisher was traveling off of Folly Road with the flow of traffic and sideswiped an SUV traveling in the same direction.
According to authorities, Fisher then lost control and was stuck by a second vehicle.
Deputies had shut down traffic in the area and routed traffic through Crosby's Seafood parking lot. The road reopened around 7p.m.
The accident is under investigation by the sheriff's office.
