NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed after a shooting on Baxter Street on Wednesday night, which authorities say appeared to occur during or after a drug deal.

The coroner's office identified the victim as 34-year-old Gregory Myers, of Baxter Street.

According to the North Charleston Police Department incident report, officers found a small baggie "consistent with illegal drug activity" in Myers' hand.

Police say the baggie contained some crack cocaine.  Myers was found shot around 9:30 p.m. at the corner of Chicora and Baxter streets, bleeding from his left ear and right cheek, the report states.

He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Myers' girlfriend told police he had left the apartment "and was supposed to be going to the store for her" when she heard a single gunshot outside.

Although investigators said late Wednesday no suspects had been arrested, video from the scene shows a man was taken into custody.
