Authorities investigating North Charleston apartment fire

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are investigating a fire that happened at an apartment in North Charleston Monday afternoon.
The North Charleston Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at an apartment building on the corner of North Carolina Avenue and Iris Street just after 2:30 p.m.
When emergency crews arrived, the tenants had extinguished the fire which was in the kitchen.
One resident was transported to MUSC.
The residents of the apartment are being assisted by the Red Cross.
