Teenager arrested for armed robbery at gas station

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a 17-year-old boy accused of an armed robbery at a Sunoco gas station in West Ashley Monday night.

The Charleston Police Department arrested Chivias Reo Thompson of North Charleston.

The armed robbery happened on 1880 Ashley River Road a little after 11 p.m. on Monday.

Police spokesman Charles Francis said the suspect came in and grabbed a drink but once he got to the counter, he implied he was armed with a handgun and demanded money.

After the clerk handed the money over, the suspect left the store.

Thompson was locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
