Suspect sought for armed robbery at West Ashley apartment

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Police are on the lookout for a suspect who robbed a woman outside of her apartment building in West Ashley Tuesday night.

Officers with the Charleston Police Department responded to an apartment on Ashley Hall Road in reference to a robbery.

A 20-year-old woman said she was walking away from her mailbox when the suspect approached her with a black gun and told her to give him her leather bag. The suspect then took the victim's keys and boots, which were in her hand, and threw them to the ground.

The victim then handed over her bag, which contained papers, a black 4G EVO phone and shorts. Police say the suspect ran around the apartment building in the direction of Ashley Hall Road.

The victim describes the suspect as a black male in his teens or early 20s, 5'11", slender, short hair cut, last seen wearing blue jeans and a bright red t-shirt with an emblem on the front.
