SAVANNAH, GA (WCSC/WTOC) - Authorities say a witness to a kidnapping and SWAT standoff in downtown Savannah may be in Charleston.

The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police is looking for 33-year-old Nicholas Ryan Fields of Pooler, Ga.

On May 16, authorities say 26-year-old Kevin Dale Brooks and 23-year-old Brian Jones entered a home on Milton Street and held the victim and his son hostage overnight. The following day, the victim told police he was forced to drive to a location to withdraw money, but was able to contact a detective to let her know of the situation.

Investigators say Brooks, who was armed with a gun in the car, was ordered to stop by the detective. When he didn't, the detective fired her gun, according to police.

Authorities say Brooks got out of the car and ran into a restaurant, where SWAT and police took him into custody. Jones was arrested after running from the victim's home.

Police say Fields was an acquaintance of one of the suspects and may have information that can help complete the investigation. Investigators say that Fields has since moved from Savannah and suspect that he may be living near Charleston.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Jonathan Puhala at (912) 651-6728.
