CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A music festival will be held later this month to honor the memory of Marley Lion, a recent Academic Magnet graduate who was murdered at a parking lot in West Ashley.

The first annual Marley Lion Music Festival will be held on July 29 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at James Island County Park.

Musicians, food and a silent auction are expected at the event. Gates open at 3 p.m. Admission is $5 and children under 12 are free. All proceeds benefit The Heart of the Lion Fund, which is held by the Coastal Community Foundation and will make grants to nonprofits that restore lives.

Investigators with the Charleston Police Department are investigating Lion's death and are searching for an individual who was seen on surveillance video before Lion was shot to death.

If you have any information on the case you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111 or 1-888-CRIME-SC. Information can also be forwarded through the organization's website at
