Man stabbed to death in downtown Charleston identified

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - 52-year-old Wilfred Chisolm of Charleston was killed early Sunday morning after allegedly being stabbed by a man he knew in downtown Charleston. The suspect has been arrested and charged with murder.

According to Charleston police, the stabbing happened around 1 a.m. near the intersection of King Street and Congress Street. Police say the victim and the suspect knew each other.

The incident started with a verbal altercation, which led to a physical altercation and the victim being stabbed.

Police arrested 64-year-old James Perrineau, of 723 King Street and charged him with murder and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a violent crime.

Perrineau went before a judge Sunday morning where he was denied bond.
